A lot of technical disadvantages are contained in the design of semi spade rudders. To avoid this Becker has developed the so called KSR (KING Support Rudder) bearing. In this support the rudder trunk is lead deep in the rudder blade so that the neck bearing is located deeply in the rudder blade where consequently the bending moments and all other stresses in the system are very low.
The forces in the neck bearing and the carrier bearing at the same rudder force are much smaller in a KSR supported rudder. The natural frequency of the rudder is far away from natural frequency of propeller so that a resonance is never possible. Vibration are reduced to a minimum. With this design we are unlimited in size for all our rudders.
