Because of our KSR bearing we are able to produce Full Spade Rudder unlimited in size. Comparing the full spade rudder with a conventional semi spade rudder a full spade rudder has the following advantages:
- Better hydrodynamic characteristics
- Higher balance ratio
- Better manoeuvrability performances
(higher balance ratio – no fixed rudder horn)
- Only two dimensional stress distribution in rudder stock and one in water bearing
- cracks avoided in an not existing area of the lower pintle bearing (semi spade rudder)
- avoiding cross flow between pressure and suction side on the rudder blade
- avoiding cavitation's erosion in way of lower pintle ( semi spade rudder)
