Note.: The winch has initially been in use on the ice edge research vessel EFS „MARIA S. MERIAN“, which took up operation on 09.02.2006
The „HATLAPA container cable winch 150/20“ has been designed as a mobile winch
and forms part of the equipment of the research vessel „METEOR“.
The whole winch equipment is accommodated in two special sea-going containers
with GL and CSC certificate so that the equipment can be shipped world-wide, and
can therefore travel on land and sea to meet the research vessels on site.:
Not only for the „METEOR“, but application is also possible on other research vessels
such as „SONNE“, „POLARSTERN“ and „MARIA S. MERIAN“.
Note.:Winch combination on HATLAPA’s test bench
As great importance is laid on spooling the very expensive light wave conductive
cable in a protective manner low on wear, the use of a friction winch with a separate
storage winch was agreed upon. This system involves much more expenditure than
a conventional research winch and requires two 20’ containers in line for space and
weight reasons.
Note.:Storage winch
Friction and storage winch run in combined operation whereby an acceleration and
deceleration control prevents formation of slack rope.
During hauling-in, the cable is led over the grooved friction disk with pulls up to 150
kN, whereby the storage winch spools on the rope at max 20 kN with a speed of 0.65
m/min in a protective manner.
A deviation rope disk arranged between both winches acts as cushioning and dampens
load peaks in case of rope knocks or sudden winch standstill.
The stepless, frequency inverter controlled winch drive with oil-cooled electric motors
and the patented HATLAPA spooling device care for protective spooling operation.
With this patented device, spooling faults are automatically compensated by an electronically
controlled speed superposition gear Cable pulls and speeds are permanently controlled by corresponding measuring devices.
Note.:Storage winch
The control cabinets, a control hydraulic pump set, a motor cooling pump set, as well as a fairlead are also accommodated in the containers together with the winches.
The winch equipment is designed for cables of 18,2 mm and 26 mm diameter.
