HATLAPA delivered the deck machinery for the first liquid natural gas carrier in China!
HATLAPA Uetersener Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG, one of the worlds’ leading manufacturers of Marine Equipment for more than 85 years, delivered the deck machinery for the first liquid natural gas (LNG) carrier built at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co. Ltd., 1 set of electrically driven deck machinery with frequency inverter controlled 6-pole motor (without auto tension device)..
The particular characteristic of the comb. Anchor and double drum mooring winches of this equipment is the max. chain pull with approx. 1600 kN, lifting 14 lengths of anchor chain for a water depth of approx. 385 m, this is far more than the normal classification requirement of 82 m water depth.
These winches are equipped with a remotely controlled anchor let-go automatic, allowing control of the anchor speed and displaying the paid out chain length and speed of the anchor.
In case of power failure manual operation of the windlasses is possible.
It is the first time that LNG-tankers being equipped with deck machinery having electrically driven motors. Previously, difficulties in obtaining ex-proof electric motors had been the major reason not to install electrically driven winches on board tankers. But with continuous research efforts and close cooperation with suppliers HATLAPA has developed such deck machinery equipment especially for LNG tankers. The whole equipment is subject to classification approval ABS.
This vessel, scheduled for delivery by November 2007, will be used to transport liquid
natural gas from Australia to South China’s Guangdong Province, where a 7-billion Yuan (846 million USDollars) LNG terminal is under construction.
Apart from the first LNG vessel, Hudong now has three 3 LNG vessel orders in hand where orders for deck machinery of these 3 carriers have been booked with HATLAPA already.
