The shipbuilding industry’s leading exhibition, “SMM” – held bi-annually in Hamburg, Germany – took place last month for the 24th time. With around 2,000 exhibitors and 53,000 visitors from 100 countries, SMM (“Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Technology”) gave the perfect opportunity for shipyards, ship owners and marine equipment suppliers from all over the world to exchange ideas on technical trends and solutions in the maritime industry.
HATLAPA Marine Equipment was one of the equipment suppliers presenting their latest developments at SMM. On its stand HATLAPA showcased its rotary vane type steering gear "TRITON", a sought after alternative to conventional ram type steering gear.
Despite the ongoing recession, visitor numbers at SMM were excellent, and HATLAPA’s 250m2 shared two-story stand was busy with all kinds of visitors: 60 shipyards and 130 ship owners came to the HATLAPA stand during the four-day exhibition, and HATLAPA made a total of 350 new contacts during this time.
Underlining HATLAPA’s 90-year-long presence in the industry, HATLAPA’s stand staff reminded their visitors that the company prides itself in being more than just a marine equipment supplier – "We see ourselves as a partner in good and bad times, a company shipyards and ship owners can contact any time, in any kind of trouble, and HATLAPA will help find a solution", says Managing Partner Jörg Tollmien.
In addition to welcoming customers and suppliers, the stand also served as a meeting platform for HATLAPA’s overseas offices, global agents and partners. HATLAPA believes that events such as SMM provide an ideal meeting place for its global family.
